Pemberton Old Wigan Youth Band was set up by John Don-Duncan in the mid-nineties. John, who had previous experience of developing aspiring brass musicians with great success at trinity Girls Youth Band and through his experience as a school teacher, soon began to build up numbers and before long, was supplying talented youngsters to the Senior Band. In 1997, the formation of the organisations' 'B' Band offered a 'middle' step up for the youngsters through Pemberton, many on to our very own 'A' Band, and others on to many top bands around the country. The Youth Band has gone from strength to strength in recent years and competes in many contests and performs in numerous concerts around the North West.
